Polish Party Friday :Nicole by OPI- Blue Lace and Sephora X- Chaotic (A little picture heavy! :D )

First off, I want to ask you guys a couple of questions.
One: Have you ever painted your nails based on something that caught your eye?
Two: Where do you get your inspiration for manis from?

Let me explain:
Yesterday I was making earring tops (decorating the glass piece that would fasten on to the post).
I made one with a couple of polishes and then realized that that would look really good on my nails!
That's how today's Polish Party Friday mani came about!

First off, I just painted my nails with NOPI- Blue Lace...

It's one of my favorite blues (and since I am a bluey- blue girl, that's saying a lot!)

Then I figured it needed a little extra flair.
That's where one of my babies came in....
Meet Sephora Z- Chaotic

You want to know something funny? I actually bought this polish from a blog sale, because of My Boyfriend Hates Makeup!
She had a post up a while ago in which she had a whole bunch of black and white top coat polishes, and I realized that I did not have a single one, so I had to pick this one up. :)

Hope you liked this post!

Until next time,
Peace,

NotTooPolished (The Indie brand I have the most polishes of) Review of Dragonstone and Daffodil

This is a review of NotTooPolished's polishes. I love NotTooPolished, because she makes great polishes, which is why she is the Indie maker I have the most of, plus she was one of the first indies that I ever got.
So these are all iPhone pics of my nails, so they are a little grainy.
Hope you can see past this!

First off, we start with Not Too Polished's Dragonstone. It's a beautiful black jelly base with bright red glitter.

It makes feel like a rocker/bad ass when I wear it, so if you want to feel like a badass on a regular basis (whenever you paint your nails) I suggest this one.

This polish does take at least two coats though, so keep that in mind.

Onwards we go to the opposite side of the spectrum: the wonderfully spring-timey color of daffodil!

So for all you who don't know, daffodils are a flower that blooms in the very early spring.
They are a bright yellow petaled flower with a inside cup looking part that is generally darker yellow/orange color.
(They always remind me of one of the plants in the plants vs. zombies game) :P

Anyways, I wanted to show you a comparison of the colors that you can expect from Daffodil.
(In advance, excuse my nails, they are breaking like crazy for some reason, so they are sad nails :( )

On my thumb is one coat of Daffodil. You can see that it is a very sheer polish, but it gives a lovely hue of yellow.

On my index finger is one coat over white and my middle finger has two coats over white. You can see the big difference that an extra coat makes!

So I wanted to show case some other of Not Too Polished's polishes. On my index is Eye of Newt and on the middle finger is Freak of a Reindeer.

I love both of these polishes~
First off, Eye of Newt is also a great polish because it fits in with the spring theme. The yellows and greens are spring colors to a tee. :)

Freak of a Reindeer is amazing because it elevates brown polishes that often are classified as boring. It has many dimensions as there are different shapes and colors of brown and gold glitter in it.

Below are some other pictures I took of just plain Daffodil with Freak of a Reindeer as a topper.

You can grab these polishes at NotTooPolished's Etsy page here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/nottoopolished.

Hope you enjoyed this post!

Until next time,

Spellbound Nails- Glitter Me Gumdrops and Lollipop Princess

I have the distinct pleasure of introducing you to (in case you have missed out on her awesomeness :) ) the amazetastical Spellbound Nails!! (Yes, I just made up a word!)

Being the lucky girl that I am, I actually won her contest, and was able to pick out two polishes from her line inspired by the game Candyland.
First off, one of my favorite games growing up was CandyLand, so I was super duper excited
Secondly, the colors in her polishes are bright and beautiful!
But that's enough from me, let me just show you them!

Just look at the polish bottle. There is a heart stuck on to the cap! I just love when polish makers take that extra little touch to make their polish stand out.

On the left is Glitter Me Gumdrops and on the right is Lollipop Princess.

Glitter Me Gumdrops is a multicolored glitter bonanza, whereas Lollipop Princess is more princessly refined with golds and pinks.

Both are amazing!

Here are some bottle shots just to illustrate how fantastic these are.

Below I have shown how I used these. I tried to do these polishes justice, by pairing them with colors that would accentuate all of the glitters that they both possess.

I paired Glitter Me Gumdrops with Tokyo Pearl and Black on Black, both by Sinful Colors.

I loved this color, because it seemed like whatever color was the base, it seemed to show different glitters. It was almost like I was unlocking new secrets from the polish, (which was super fun, because I love secrets! :) )

I paired Lollipop Princess with Sinful Colors' Black on Black and Ruby Ruby.

I also loved this color, because it was a great pairing of glitters in the polish as well as a polish that you could wear to work and would still be professional in my eyes. It wasn't too out there, but it was still done with a bunch of flair, which I love!

If you want to purchase any of her polishes, go to http://www.etsy.com/shop/SpellboundNails

Hope you enjoyed this post (I sure did!)

If you want to ask me anything about it, comment in the comments!

Until next time,
Peace,

Naughty Nails Contest (Warning: a little risque!)

So I found a nail art contest on Facebook that has a whole bunch of sponsors like Different Dimension and Above the Curve so I figured since I need some practice at nail art I would enter and give it a go. (Worst thing that happens is that I get some experience.)
Here's my picture!
I didn't want it to be overtly sexual, I just wanted it to be risque and suggestive enough to enter. Bear with me: it is supposed to resemble a barely clothed lady, with a sensor bar covering her chest and a strawberry covering her "nether regions." I also did kiss marks down her stomach and the pinkie nail is supposed to be all x's, like XXX.

Hope you guys enjoyed this and that it wasn't too offensive for anyone of you! I figured putting the warning in the post title would make sure that if people weren't okay with the content then they wouldn't accidentally see something that they didn't want to see.

Until next time,
Peace,
Rikya

Tutorial- Easy Peasy Ladybird

Since I was getting comments that you guys wanted me to do more nail art and tutorials, so here's my attempt at Ladybird nails!!

Here are the tools that I used, but go ahead and switch it up if you want!

Step One: Paint nails a deep red color. I ended up doing two to three coats to get the color I wanted, but for more opaque polish, one coat should be fine.

Step Two: Make a french manicure like sweep of black polish across the top of the nail and then carefully make a thin black line of polish down the middle of the nail. (If your line isn't straight, don't worry! On real ladybugs, they're not always straight, plus the dots will cover some of it up!)

Step Three: Make the dots! Now you're done! That's easy and super duper cute, (and perfect for those little polish people at home!)

However, I took it a step further and made leaves as well.
Step Four: Remove the color on your other nails, and paint them green. I used a Sally Girl Polish, but you use whatever green you love. :)

Step Five: Draw a thin line of green down the center.

Step Six: Draw thin lines off of the main line of green.

Step Seven: Apply this to all of your remaining nails.

And you're done!!

Hope you liked this post!

Until next time,
Peace,
Rikya

Indie Part 2 (NotTooPolished #2 Pencil)

Hey guys,
It's time for another installment of my indies posts. :)
Today's indie maker is also NotTooPolished, but it's the wonderful polish named:
# 2 Pencil!

It goes on amazingly well. The glitter comes out easily, and the base of the polish is a shiny gold, just subtle enough to be to be worn anywhere, yet distinct enough to not be confused with any other polish.
I mean come on, where are you going to see a polish that looks like this? Nowhere.

If you want to grab a bottle of this spectacular polish, go to http://www.etsy.com/listing/105828851/sale-nail-polish-no-2-pencil-yellow-with. It's only five dollars for a whole bottle, so it's a great deal!

Until next time,
Peace,
Rikya
